Tips to stay safe during Hunting Season

Fall is the perfect time of year for outdoor activities. Hunting is one of those activities that some individuals love to partake in. However, hunting poses many risks for not only hunters, but individuals who may be roaming the area and hunting as well. With that being said, we think it’s best to go over basic safety rules to ensure your hunting trips doesn’t end in injury.

We’ve compiled a list of safety tips to follow while hunting!

Wear Protective Gear

A hunter’s ears and eyes are more prone to injury than other body parts. Wearing the appropriate protective gear is necessary to avoid injury or worse. To protect against the loud sounds and potential debris that may kick back, wear something to cover your ears and always have on safety glasses.

Avoid Alcohol

We all know alcohol can limit our awareness and compromise our decision making. Both of which need to be at peak performance when engaging in hunting. You’re also more susceptible to hypothermia and frostbite. It’s best to avoid alcohol all together before or during hunting!

Learn first aid Basics

Anything can occur on hunting grounds. It’s always good to know CPR and how to stop a wound from bleeding. You can never to be too prepared for the worse.

Be aware of your surroundings

The #1 rule when hunting is always be aware of your surroundings. Their may be other hunters nearby. The last thing you want to happen is accidentally causing injury, or worse, to another fellow hunter. Furthermore, be aware of animals that may be nearby. They can cause injury to you if you’re not expecting it.

Know this statistic about falls

Falling is the #1 injury that can occur in the wilderness. Knowing this simple fact can help you be more cautious and aware of your surroundings. Many hunters fall from trees after being startled by an animal. Be aware!
