Bob was privileged to play football in the National Football League and the Canadian Football League. In 2010 he was inducted into the Nebraska Hall of Fame. He brought his family to Charleston with the opportunity to coach at Eastern Illinois University in 1977.

He started his insurance career in 1978 selling life insurance for Mass Mutual. The local area supported Bob's career which lead to sales growth and the ability to transform from a salesperson to an Insurance Agency Owner in a very short time.

Over the last thirty five years Bob Oetting & Associates has continued to grow with the purchase of eight different insurance agencies and now serves communities within East Central Illinois. Bob has offices in Charleston, Danville, Paris, and Neoga.

To better serve his clients Bob added investment and financial planning products in 1982 and is licensed in several states to accommodate seasonal and transient clients who move out of state.

Over the years, the business of Bob Oetting & Associates as transitioned into the hands of Bob's son Jeff Oetting and wife Trina Oetting.
